Our original installation included two PC's. We never analyse results
while data are being collected. However, we do have experience of this
practice with our biosensor system. There we used to find that after
doing a lot of data analysis the PC was likely to crash while the
biosensor was collecting results. The Biacore engineer put this down to a bug
in the PC systems software. Not all of the memory used when a window is opened
is released when that window is closed, with the result that during a
long session the working memory dwindles to the point at which the
Biacore control software cannot run properly. If our engineer is
correct this problem is a feature of the Windows software, so is
likely to occur with the Beckman system.
