thin cells

Jo, For the ultrathin cells you do exactly as you said--put the drop on
the window, and smash down fast.  You actually don't need reference
solvent, because the absorption will be negligible, but you do need the
reference channelto be cut.  For 3mm cells you can fill in the usual way.
But- remember, especially for interference, if you use spacers to properly
position the center piece-then the filling hole position needs to be moved.
That's the advantage of refocussing--You can use the usual cell holders.
