RE: negative XL-A data - summary

hi all,
Thanks for the replies to my queries. The general consensus is that
reducing agents are a bit of a pain, and one should avoid them where
possible, or prepare them as freshly as possible, keep things cool if
possible and hope for the best. TCEP and TBP (Tri-n-butylphosphine) have
been touted as alternatives, but apparently TCEP at least has met with
mixed results in terms of being a non-absorber in the UV. It is certainly
true that it is not compatible with all buffers and i suspect it probably
works best (ie closer to the advertising claims) at lower pHs.

It appears that my wavelength jumping problem may be a firmware problem
that can be addressed by the service people.

cheers,
joel
