cleaning centerpieces
Hi Andrew,
I have been using a strip of cotton cloth ( handkerchief weight )
soaked in mild detergent to get into the corners. It works very well. I had
been religiously sonicating my centerpieces but that did not remove the most
stubborn pellets and did not always get them squeaky clean. One can check the
cleanliness by looking at the reflection off the bottom of the sector. It
should be mirror smooth.

I have a related question, which is about cleaning the centrepieces.
For "stubborn" deposits I have been (very carefully!) using a pipe-
cleaner to get into the corners at the bottom of the wedge. This
is not very satisfactory as the pipe cleaners have wire in them,
and I'm afraid of making scratches. What do other people do to get
their cells squeaky-clean?
Andrew
