an AUC test system

All-

We are the Molecular Interactions Research Group (MIRG) of the Association
of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF - see http://www.abrf.org/). The
ABRF is a more technology-based spin off of the Protein Society. Check the
web site for details.

To the point ... we are seeking to identify a simple associating system
(ie., dimerizing or simple A + B) to use as a test system to calibrate the
AUC users of our membership, and anyone else who is interested (we'll get
back to this, later). Ie, can we all get the same answer on the same
system, but in our individual labs?. This was a goal of the sIA (Beckman)
meetings, which was not realized (at least, as yet). We want to do it here.
We are the same group of users, just a different organization. In the
future, we will look at the different analysis packages, more complex
systems, etc.

Our membership also includes users of ITC and SPR. These groups will
identify their own systems, with a similar end. If we could identify a
system to use across all three technologies, that would be great, possibly
too much to hope for. Right now we will focus on AUC.

But, we need some help. We need to identify a test system. There have been
several mentions of such in the literature. We will follow those up. But,
many of you, in your travels, may have discovered others. If so we need to
hear about them. General requirements are that they be accessible, stable
and formulatable (lyophilizable, etc - so that we can ship them).
Identifying such a system will help us to provide (what we hope will be) a
useful service to our community.

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Preston
