I wrote a message yesterday recommending the use of the Minton
Postcentrifugation technique (Darawshe,Rivas, Minton (1993) Anal.
Biochem.209,130-135; Darawshe, Minton (1994) Anal. Biochem. (1994)
220,1-4) when the use of real-time ultracentrifugation is not possible
because of the non-availability of an analytical ultracentrifuge.
I would like to emphasize now that it was not my intention to indicate
the superiority of one method over the other. Both real-time and post-
centrifugation procedures are powerful experimental procedures with
distinct advantages in both cases as well documented by Allen Minton
and his collaborators.
