Hi Julius --

1. You can use the Simha equation for prolate ellipsoids of rotation with a large axial
ratio to estimate the frictional coefficient of a cylinder of known axial ratio. The
hollow part doesn't matter.

2. The second virial coefficient for a fluid of uniform cylinders of known axial ratio
can be computed using the Kihara equation. Likewise, the hollow part doesn't matter.

If you aren't familiar with these equations and need references, let me know. You can
email me at minton@helix.nih.gov or minton@protein.osaka-u.ac.jp.
