Wiener skewing

I am also interested in the Wiener skewing problem. But I don't know
what is meant by degradation of the data as mentioned by Les or "lot of
trouble keeping the gradient small enough" mentioned by John. Small enough
for what? I always thought that Wiener skewing showed up as a decrease
in the rate of rise of the gradient, thereby giving an artificially high
value of the virial coefficient. Could someone enlighten me?
                          Thank you, Emory
