XL-A technical specifications

Dear RASMBers and XL-A users,

Does anyone of the community know anything about the language
Beckman uses to control the XL-A via the serial interface. We
have a newly installed XL-A in our lab with the Windows software
and would like to change some (or all) of the features Beckman
programs provide. For our applications we need e.g. a detailed
record on the speed of the centrifuge at any time and not just the
"omega sqared t" integral. Since the serial interface must be programmed
by some language convention and this language convention must
be known by the programmers of the Beckman software we asked
Beckman (Germany) to give us these language specifications.

HOWEVER, Beckman found itself unable to give this information.
According to our german field representative this
was not because of security reasons but because of lack of
manpower to bring the specifications into a suitable form.

Does anyone out there know how to program this interface ??
I know of at least one other person in Germany who has the same
problem. I do not think Beckman would oppose to disseminating this
information since they themselves do not seem to take it
as a company secret.

Thank you very much for your help.
