Undergrad. Phys. Chem. Texts

Dear Colleagues,

Dr. Andrew Mort and I teach a course in physical chemistry for our
undergraduate majors in our Department of Biochemistry and Molecular
Biology. We have been using the book by Chang, Physical Chemistry with
Applications to Biological Systems, and extensive handouts that I wrote
myself. This book by Chang is no longer available and I would be grateful
for recommendations on a good replacement text. This 4 semester credit
hour course is designed for those of our majors and others who prefer or
need a less mathematically demanding course than provided by our Chemistry
Department. Students in the latter are chemical engineers and chemistry
majors who typically have had 10 hours of calculus and usually differential
equations. Due to budget cuts and philosophy, the chemistry department
refuses to offer any alternative to this although they used to about 8
years ago.

Since we may have overlooked a good textbook and will not give them
all a thorough study, we would appreciate your opinions and suggestions.

     With much appreciation,
     Olin
