Differential sedimentation velocity

An investigator here at the NIH has mentioned that he would like to be
able to measure relatively small conformational changes associated with
Ca++ binding of a protein he is working on. I mentioned to him that
changes of only a few percent in the sedimentation coefficient, presumably
reflecting relatively minor conformational changes, have been measured via
differential sedimentation velocity, but I have no personal experience
with this method.

I would appreciate being contacted by someone who has done differential
sedimentation velocity experiments, preferably with the XLA, as I have
questions regarding this technique.

Thanks -- Allen Minton
