Program for simulating electrophoresis

A new program is available on the RASMB ftp server (in the \electrophoresis
subdirectory). The program, SSESIM, simulates the boundary development and
final steady state concentration distributions observed in the free-boundary
analytical electrophoresis apparatus under development in our lab. The
program has been tested under Windows 3.11, WFW 3.11, Win95 and Win-NT
Workstation 3.5. It simulates the behavior of up to 12 components, which can
be retained in the cell or allowed to flow through the cell membranes. The
components can dimerize or heterodimerize. Charge may or may not be
conserved upon dimerization. Some very unusual steady-state distributions
can result depending on the conditions chosen.

There are 3 'zipped' binary files, pkunzip.exe and an ASCII readme.txt file
in the \electrophoreis subdirectory. To get the program running, copy all of
the files into a subdirectory and unzip them. From within windows, add
SSESIM2.EXE as a program item, or run it from the FILE menu of Program Manager.

Once the program is operating, all of the simulation options are under the
Simulation menu item, and on-line help is available to explain the program's
functions.

The results may be viewed in Origin by opening a plot window, then selecting
as many files as you wish.

Have fun! Please send comments, questions or problems to me at:
