Caution: get your service guy to show you how to do optics cleaning at
least the first time! If you forget to turn off the power when you lift the
slit assembly you max out the photomultiplier - it will recover but it may
take overnight. The alignment of the lamp can get screwed up if you are not
careful! We simply prefer to do it ourselves to save time - it take me < 30
minutes with the pre- and post-scans to do it!
So someone asked me by E-mail and I think it's a good question! My
Beckman service tech prefers the eraser method so he never answer my query -
Which toothpaste is best for this job - tarter control Crest or some
Australian blend from the outback?
