I HAVE been trying to get Beckman to fix it for a year.  But this dicussion
over the network points out the problem--no one wants to believe Jack and I
that the machines really have a problem.   What is even worse, no one at
Beckman really seems to understand (or at least admits that that do) the
combined optical/electronic/software systems enough to diagnose it.  The only
person there who acknowledged the reality of the problem was Jerry Porter,
who has subsequently been laid off.
